1 News Rebrand

In a world where news is available on a multitude of platforms, I wanted to make sure 1News was instantly recognisable. In 2019, we launched a comprehensive rebrand that simplifies the presentation while bringing on air clarity to our storytelling.

The new design, limits the overall colour palette and uses a simplified design in an attempt to be accessible to a wider audience. Using our 'Royal Blue' colour as a starting point, and the ring curves based off TVNZ's master logo, we developed a package of assets that was compatible across our entire family of News shows. Included in our deliverables was an entire new approach to how we deliver New Zealand's weather. Basing the aesthetic around modern UI data consumption, we included real time 3D flyovers for major cities, and introduced augmented reality scenes such as High's and Lows, UV factors and special events.

Vidwalls

We developed a series of interchangeable ‘Vidwall’ backgrounds to be easily switched for each News program, from the master 6pm News to Breaking News, Late news and Midday News.

1 News Sport

The 1News design team delivered a sophisticated & modern design identity for our daily Sports show, that appeals to a wide range of viewer demographic .

The refresh allows the show to stand out as its own brand amidst the 6PM bulletin. The vibrant colour palette employed creates distinction among 1News competitors, with a primary aqua used throughout our shows branding
